I’m glad Brevity is going to keep posting the writer’s posts on the Brevity blog. Not sure if that happens for every issue, but this is the first time I noticed it. I felt so inspired to write something, I mapped out what I wanted to say in my mind walking across campus one afternoon. That almost never happens for me.

Also totally get the apprehension. In a way, you think “Well, if they’re going to publish me, it must be good, and that will make up for my ‘yikes, but it’s personal!’ feelings.” A few years ago, when I was getting back into writing, I thought, If only I could get published, then that would justify the time I take away from the kids working on my writing, and that will make up for the fact that I’m getting older, etc. Of course nothing really makes up for anything, right? But it’s still good!

I appreciate the kind words. I can’t wait for it to go live, but I also feel a little apprehension. I guess that’s just part of writing personal essay, though I some essays are more “personal” than others.

At any rate, always good to be published!
